The majority
of these projects have been conducted for Twentvmile Peabody Coal mining activities.
25. Known Cultural Resources - In the project area: No previously recorded archaeological sites or
isolated finds are located within the immediate project area. However, there is a high site
density within about a mile to the north.
In the general region (summarize): There are eleven previously recorded archaeological sites and 34
isolated finds in the sections of the project area; however none of these cultural resources are
located inside the current survey area. See Table 2 for a list of the archaeological sites. They
consist of one historic trash dump and prehistoric open camp, a segment of the historic Hayden
to Twentvmile Park Road, a historic irrigation ditch, five prehistoric open camps, and three
prehistoric open lithic scatters. The 34 isolated finds consist of prehistoric projectile points,
groundstone, tools, and lithic flakes. General Land Office Maps dating to 1882 and 1915 were
also consulted, and they do not depict any historic features in the immediate project area. Two
ranches are depicted on the 1882 map, and irrigation ditches are on the 1915 map, but these
resources are outside of the survey area.
Table 1.
