This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety's (Division) normal
monitoring program. Marvin Moore, representing Moffat County, was present during this inspection.
Photographs are included at the end of this report in order to illustrate some of the conditions observed during
this inspection.
The State Pit No. 38 is located approximately 38 miles northwest of Craig and accessed from CR4. The site is a
112c operation that includes a total of 43.32 permitted acres. In accordance with Rule 4.2.1(2), no Financial
Warranty is required for this site.
Adequate mine identification signage was noted at the entrance to the site in accordance with Rule 3.1.12(1).
The affected area was marked by posts that were clearly visible and adequate to delineate the affected area
boundary.
The entire portion of the permit area west of the access road was undisturbed accept for a stormwater berm
around the site perimeter. The primary activity that occurs at the site, as with most of Moffat County's gravel
pits, is stockpile removal. A gravel stockpile was located just inside the entrance to the site. An equipment
trailer and fuel trailer were located near the site entrance as well. Topsoil has been removed from much of the
area east of the access road, and stockpiled on the east side of the disturbed area. A small excavated pit was
located in the north - central part of the permit area.
No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Dustin Czapla at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501,
phone number (970) 243 -6299.
Inspection Contact Address
Marvin Moore
Moffat County Road Dept.
822 E. 1st St.
Craig, CO 81626
Enclosure: August 04, 2011 Inspection Photos
Cc:
OBSERVATIONS
PERMIT #: M- 2006 -076
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: DMC
INSPECTION DATE: August 4, 2011
