• <br />• <br />• <br />A summary of information relating to soil suitability and recommended salvage depths is provided in <br />Table 2.04.9 -20 and salvageable soil volumes are presented in Table 2.04.9 -16. The information for each <br />map unit and soil series includes: <br />• Map unit symbol and name <br />• Acreage of each map unit in the proposed disturbed area <br />• Soil sample location numbers <br />• Total soil depth <br />• Total salvage depth <br />• Recommended topsoil /subsoil salvage depth <br />• Primary borrow limitations <br />According to the suitable salvage depths of the encountered soils, it is apparent that a sufficient volume of <br />suitable soil exists in the proposed Collom mining disturbance area to ensure subsequent successful <br />reclamation, assuming all recommended suitable soil is salvaged and best - management practices (BMPs) <br />are employed during reclamation activities. Salvage of soils on slopes greater than 40 percent may be <br />impractical in this area; however, a sufficient volume of suitable soil should still be available for <br />successful reclamation assuming BMPs are used. The total disturbed acreage is estimated at <br />approximately 2,040 acres. Table 2.04.9 -20 presents the available salvage volumes from each soil within <br />a map unit indicating there is sufficient topsoil (1.8 million cubic yards) available in the disturbed area to <br />cover the entire area with a minimum of six inches, or 1.6 million cubic yards of topsoil. These figures <br />also do not account any swell which is typically near 20 percent in this area.
