Soils Information
Exhibit I
The typical profile for this soil is:
• 0 - ": slightly decomposed plant material;
• 1 - ": Very stony sandy loam
• 7 : Very stony loam;
• 20 - 28 ": Very stony sandy loam;
• 28 - 52 ": Very stony sandy clay loam;
• 52 - 61 ": Extremely stony sandy loam.
Further descriptions of this and other soils in the permit area are presented in Attachment I -1.
2.0 Description of Soils
The following areas directly applicable to mining activities within the permit boundary were
evaluated in the field:
2.1 Areas within Buffer Areas of Operational Areas
These areas potentially may be disturbed for either expansion of operational areas or road
expansion. Areas inspected included:
• The operational areas at May Day No. 1, May Day No. 2, Chief and Lamb; and
• Proposed exploration roads.
These areas allowed for inspection on already disturbed cuts. The soils are typical of the
description of the Nordical Stony soils and are dominated by medium to coarse, angular stones
( >15 %) as shown in Plate 1.
2.2 Operational Areas
2.3 Location of Augmentation Pond
Operational areas were characterized by essentially being graded to weathered bedrock. There
was no evidence of soil development in these locations.
Areas that have not been recently accessed for operational purposes (e.g. Lamb Operational Area
and old roads near the Brooklyn and 810 adits) showed signs of natural regeneration (Plate 2).
The proposed augmentation pond is located in the Idaho Operational Area. The soil in this area
is composed of gray, silty clay material with occasional gravels to a depth of approximately 14
inches. Munsell values were 3, indicating reasonable (5 -10 %) organic matter concentrations.
Below this depth, the gravels increased significantly and a spade could not be advanced beyond
this depth (Plate 3).
Wildcat Mining Corporation
May Day Idaho Mine Complex — 112d Permit Application
Revised August, 2011
Exhibit I — Rule 6.4.9
Page 2 of 16
