They will be responsible for assigning appropriate environmental staff to implement this
SOP and for ensuring that procedures are followed by all personnel.
All personnel performing these procedures are required to have the appropriate health and safety
training. In addition, all personnel are regiiirecl to have a complete understanding of the
procedures described within this SOP and receive specific training regarding these procedures, if
necessary.
All environmental and assay laboratory staff are responsible for documenting deviations from
this SOP and reporting them to the Project Manager or Field Manager.
3.0 RELATED STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES
The procedures set forth in this SOP are intended for use with the following SOPs:
SOP No. x* Water Level Measurements
SOP No. ** Field Filtration Procedures
SOP No. ** Decontamination of Sampling Equipment
SOP No. x* Field Parameter Measurements (including Instrument Calibration)
SOP No. xk Sample Management
SOP No. ** Surveying (Land and GPS)
4.0 PROCEDURES FOR GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
Procedures for groundwater sampling from a monitoring well are designed to obtain a sample
that is representative of the formation water. Because an estimate of the quality of formation
water is desired, standing water within the well must be evacuated before sampling. Also, a
measure of the static water elevations is important to determine if horizontal and vertical flow
gradients change during site characterization activities.
0 -1
