Box 773598 <br />Steamboat Springs, CO 80477 <br />Re: Seneca II Mine (Permit No. C- 1980 -005) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 6 (RN -6) <br />Dear Routt County Commissioners: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, <br />Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 8, 2011, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct <br />coal mining operations at Seneca II Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods <br />as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Seneca Coal Company, LLC proposes to continue Surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located <br />approximately 9 miles Southeast of Hayden, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />T5N, R87W; Portion of Sections 1 and 12 <br />T5N, R86W: Portion of Sections 6 and 7 <br />T5N, R86W; Portions of Sections 6 and 7 <br />The above - mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Milner and Mount Harris. <br />Seneca Coal Company has submitted an application for successive renewal of a valid existing permit to conduct mining and <br />reclamation activities in Colorado. This application does not include extensions of the permit area or any activities within the <br />permit area. No additional disturbance is requested for this permit area. The permit renewal extends the permit term for <br />another 5 years. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Routt County Commissioners, P.O. Box 773598, <br />Steamboat Springs, CO 80477.
