concrete slab at the entrance road. The operator has been monitoring and treating these weeds for several
years, and the weed control plan was added to the permit under TR -2. The thistle has been greatly reduced
but it is still present. Continued treatment is essential however, until it is completely gone. The knapweed
does not exhibit any damage from herbicide treatments, and is still present in a thick patch. This is not a
problem at this time, but the operator must be diligent and more aggressive to impact this species until it is
also eliminated.
Topsoil:
Topsoil available to be replaced is limited, and all of the stockpiles were respread. Revegetation is slightly
better on the topsoiled areas, probably due to its lighter color (compared to the dark scoria) and its texture
and available nutrients. It does not appear to be eroding while revegetation is proceeding.
There were no problems noted in this inspection.
For all questions related to this report, please contact this inspector at the Durango Field Office:
DRMS Durango Field Office
691 CR 233, Room A -2
Durango, CO 81301
Tel: 970 - 247 -5193
Inspection Contact Address:
Paul Glader
MWCA, Inc.
6500 Mineral Drive, Suite 200
Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815 -9408
CC:
Ingrid Bamberg
Bamberg Ecological
2622 Valentia St.
Denver, CO 80238
PERMIT #: M- 1977 -227
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: RCO
INSPECTION DATE: July 28, 2011
