This SOP is to be used for sampling as described in the most current version of the Water <br />Quality Monitoring Plan, Climax Molybdenum Company, Climax Mine and Mill, DRMS Permit No. M- 1977 -493 <br />that provides information on the Point -of- Compliance (POC) and internal water sampling locations at the <br />Climax Mine. <br />• <br />Safety <br />Health and safety hazards include but are not limited to the following: <br />• Slips, trips, and falls in tall grasses over obstacles and berms near sampling locations. Review <br />terrain hazards prior to conducting these operations. Ensure there is a safe means of <br />access /egress to the site. <br />• Dermal exposure to potentially contaminated groundwater. Ensure that proper personal <br />protective equipment (PPE) is used to mitigate the impact of splashes of water to skin and /or <br />eyes. <br />• Ergonomics: Use appropriate ergonomic techniques when inserting or retrieving equipment to <br />preclude injury to the arms, shoulders or back. <br />Environmental <br />The Climax Environmental Department will have responsibility to oversee and ensure that all water <br />sampling is performed in accordance with the Water Quality Monitoring Plan and this SOP. <br />Responsible Parties <br />The field technician is responsible for reviewing this SOP, ensuring that all procedures are properly <br />Aft followed, and to record all pertinent data on a field log. The collection, handling and storage of all <br />samples will be the responsibility of the field technician. <br />PRINTED DOCUMENTS ARE UNCONTROLLED <br />
