Watterson <br />Twentymile Coal Company <br />29515 Routt County Road #27 <br />Oak Creek, CO 80467 <br />RE: Twentymile Coal Company, Permit C -82 -056 <br />Second Quarter Discharge Monitoring Report Review (Permit COG - 0027154, COG - <br />0036684, COG - 0042161, COG - 850054, and COG - 850051) <br />June 2011 (COG - 073534, CO- 0027154) <br />Dear Mr. Watterson, <br />STATE OF COLORADO <br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (CDRMS) has reviewed and found the <br />above referenced reports to be in compliance with Rule 4.05.13(2). The Second Quarter Discharge <br />Monitoring Reports for the above referenced CDPS Permits were received by the Division on 02 <br />August 2011; the reports cover the time period from 01 April 2011 through 30 June 2011. <br />Permit CO- 0027154 — During the month of June Outfalls 005A/MON5 /005W (Pond D), 003A (Pond <br />B), 006 (Pond E) and 007A/MON7 /007W (Pond F) flowed. No other outfalls flowed in June. <br />During the second quarter 2011 all outfalls permitted flowed. No exceedances were noted. WET tests <br />were collected for Outfall 005W and 007W. The tests indicated that the effluent was not acutely toxic <br />to Daphina magna. <br />Permit COG - 073534 — The construction associated with Outfall OO1A (Foidel Creek Pipeline <br />Crossing) discharged during the month of June 2011. No exceedances were noted. <br />Permit CO- 0036684 — Outfall 001A/001W /MON1 (Site 62) discharged throughout the quarter with no <br />exceedances noted. Whole Effluent Toxicity tests were collected for analysis during the quarter. The <br />tests indicated that the effluent was not acutely toxic to Ceriodaphnia dubia or Pimephales promelas. <br />Permit CO- 0042161 — Outfall 002A (sites 300E and 300I) discharged during the quarter. Exceedances <br />were noted for the 30 day average (75 mg/L) and daily maximum (110 mg/L) for total suspended <br />solids in June and for pH in May at 9.4.
