forward of Comments from NRCS.
Dear Mr. Chiles,
On August 1, 2011 the Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division) received NRCS comments regarding
Rimrock Exploration's application for a 110d, Designated Mining Operation (DMO), application No. M- 2011 -040.
Those comments have been forwarded to Rimrock for their response. Per Rule 1.6.2. (1) (ii) an applicant is
required to give notice to the local soil conservation district prior to submission of the application to the Division.
Per normal protocol the Division is sending notice to the NRCS which will include the application form, legal
description, and location map. The rule notice unfortunately does not specify any other requirements of the
applicant other than notice.
The Division notes to NRCS:
1. Rimrock has submitted a soil survey map from the NRCS website as suggest. The soil survey is required
for an Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) under Rule 6.4.21 (17) (c). The map is Appendix B of the
application.
2. Due to the fact that this is on Bureau of Land Management administered lands the operator will have to
gain a BLM approved seed mix from the Uncompahgre Field Office.
3. A general weed plan is required per Rule 3.1.10(6). If during annual inspections problematic or noxious
weeds are observed, an operator is required to submit formal weed control plan as a Technical Revision.
This is done in conjunction with the local weed management agency
