TR -108 DWR Response Letter (Cont'd)
Page 2
The construction and or conversion of the exploratory boreholes into monitoring wells is
regulated and overseen by CDRMS. Some exploration holes have been converted to
monitoring holes per Trapper operational permit. Other holes for monitoring ground
water quality were constructed per the permit under the direction and approval of the
Division.
Furthermore Trapper does use several wells to dewater geologic formations in advance
of mining operations. Dewatering the pits and surrounding geologic formations is
covered with well permit #22140 -F. This well permit allows water to be pumped from
our pits for the safety of the operation. It also permits use of this water and retention of
this water as needed. The dewatering holes are completed to the lower coal seams we
will mine and therefore only draw water from formations directly impacted by mining
operations and the open pit. The water produced either from the pit or the wells is the
same water and should be covered under the same permit.
Please contact me if you have any additional questions regarding the enclosed information.
Sincerely,
.d/-
Graham Roberts
EHS Specialist
GCR
M:\ANNUALRPT\DRMS1ORPT \TR -108 DWR Response Letter.DOC
Enclosure
File 109.2.3.4, w/o enc
Shelf Binder w /enc
