No representative of CB Minerals accompanied me on the inspection.
The mine is reclaimed and has undergone a full Phase II Bond Release. The reason for this partial inspection was
to assess the diffuse and Russian knapweed infestation at the site. The weather was hot and sunny and the ground
was dry.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
-Last fall the site was infested with diffuse and Russian knapweed. The infestation was heaviest along the haul
road on bench above the sediment pond, in the sediment pond and in the AVF by the sediment pond. The site was
sprayed on 20 September 2010 but it does not look like it was sprayed this spring. The spraying last fall does
appear to have helped the infestation, as there is not the density of the two knapweed species. There was some
diffuse knapweed along the haul road and individual plants around the site, including the sediment pond and AVF.
There was still a heavy infestation of diffuse knapweed in the west cell of the remaining sediment pond. There
were also Russian knapweed plants around the site. CB Minerals will need to spray the site again and continue to
spray and monitor the site until the knapweed infestation has been eradicated.
-There were numerous thistle species noted on the site including bull thistle and musk thistle. In conjunction with
the spraying for the knapweed species, CB Minerals will need to spray for thistle as well.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED: None
This concludes the 18 July 2011 inspection report for the Coal Ridge Mine.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0
Page 2 of 4
