This total
does not include existing sediment ponds (2.3 acres) or existing and proposed topsoil
stockpiles (2.5 acres), which, when combined, total 4.8 acres.
3Topsoil which currently exists in stockpiles. See Exhibit 21-1, Topsoil Balance Plan or
Exhibit 12-2, Operations Plan, for locations and Table 21-1 for individual stockpile volumes.
4These soil map unit areas were disturbed by previous mining activity (pre-law and Permit
75-36) and subsequently reclaimed.
5The entire 29.92 acre area will be reclaimed to rangeland. A 6 inch topsoil replacement
depth was previously approved for 22.88 acres within Mine Areas 2 and 3 under Permit 75-36.
Therefore, a 6 inch topsoil/subsoil replacement depth over 3.5 feet of suitable spoil is
• justified for these previously disturbed areas within Mine Areas 2 and 3. A 10 inch
topsoil/subsoil replacement depth is justified for 7.04 acres of first time disturbance
area within Mine Areas 2 and 3. The 6 and 10 inch topsoil/subsoil replacement areas are
shown on Exhibit 21-2, Postmine Soil Replacement Depths.
21-14 Revised 08/19/88
