It is in followup to the several phone <br /> conversations which we have held on this issue. <br /> I have enclosed a copy of the Soil Survey San Miguel Area Manuscript <br /> Table Y -- Prime Farmland with changes made per Classification <br /> and Correlation document prepared June , 11-15, 1987. These changes <br /> show deletion of 808 Aquolls and 802 Haplaquolls and note that <br /> 91B Monticello-Witt is in. Also, that the approved name for Turley <br /> loam is Fruitland loam. <br /> All accepted Prime Farmland soils show the need for irrigation, in <br /> order that they be identified as Prime . This brings us to the <br /> issue of irrigation in the Nucla area. Receint discussions which <br /> • I have had with landowners and with the Colorado Cooperative Ditch <br /> Company (the main source of irrigation water in this area) , indicate <br /> that the normal condition is one of having adequate water thru the <br /> growing season. <br /> Therefore, the stand which the Soil Conservation Service takes is : <br /> soils which are identified by the enclosed Table Y and which are <br /> irrigated either by the Colorado Cooperative Ditch Company or another <br /> source of proven dependable water for the entire growing season, <br /> are in fact areas of Prime Farmland. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> Jack W.
