Exhibit E — Reclamation Plan
Also refer to Exhibit F: Reclamation Plan Map.
Paul Banks and Associates, LLC
Overview
The post mining land use for the St. Barbara sand and gravel mine will be lined water
storage. This will consist of approximately 210 acres of ponds and 94 acres of
revegetated land including pond slopes, backfilled areas, and setback areas.
Revegetation will consist of native grasses and forbs as specified by the local office of
the NRCS and as described in this exhibit.
The mine pits will be lined using slurry walls. It is not known when the slurry walls will be
built because there is currently no end -use water storage entity. Prior to construction of
the slurry wall, the design and exact location will be submitted to the DRMS in a
Technical Revision Application. The slurry wall design will meet the specifications of the
State Engineers Office.
Exhibit F- Reclamation Plan Map shows the approximate location of the slurry wall.
These walls are typically 3 feet wide and extend through the gravel plus another 3 -5 feet
into bedrock. Drilling on the property indicated a depth to bedrock of 30 -34 feet and for
purposes of this report we assumed an average slurry wall depth of 35 feet. The
approximate slurry wall locations shown on the map include a setback of at least 25 feet
from the property line and at least 25 feet from the pit edge. These setbacks provide
enough room for equipment to maneuver to construct the slurry wall. The locations of
existing berms along the north and west sides of the property should not interfere with
slurry wall construction.
Mine Area 1 (as shown on Exhibit F) impounds approximately 3,393 acre -feet of water.
To impound this water, a slurry wall of approximately 13,094 feet in length is required.
The depth of the slurry wall would be approximately 35 feet.
Mine Area 2 impounds approximately 353 acre -feet of water. This requires a slurry wall
approximately 6,565 feet long.
St. Barbara Sand and Gravel Mine 10031
Pete Lien & Sons, Inc. 12 June 15, 2011
