COMMENTS
This was a Complete Inspection of the New Horizon Mine conducted by Marcia Talvitie of the
DRMS between 1:00 and 4:30 p.m. on June 15, 2011. We concluded with inspections of the
facilities and Irrigated Pasture reference area between 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. on June 16, 2011.
The weather was hot and breezy, and skies were clear.
PERMITTING UPDATE:
SL -12: The Division and WFC continue to correspond regarding the Phase III bond release
request for Irrigated Pasture and the associated management of the IP reference area and
reclaimed areas.
TR -60: The Division received an application for TR -60 on June 8, 2011 and called it Complete
for purposes of filing on June 20. Public notice of the application appeared in the June 23 issue
of the San Miguel Basin Forum. The period for public comment will be open through Tuesday,
July 5. The Division's Preliminary Adequacy Review is due on July 20, 2011.
AIR RESOURCE PROTECTION — Rule 4.17:
• The water truck was observed spraying the haul roads within the permit area (Photo 1).
Water pumped from the pit continues to be stored in an elevated tank near Pond 011 for use
in dust control.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
• A completed DRMS Availability of Records Form is attached to this report.
FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18:
• A raccoon was observed bathing just below the outlet end of the Pond 013 Parshall flume,
adjacent to Tuttle Draw (Photo 2).
