The previous
approved 400' of road is eliminated with this site relocation for a net increase in 400' of new
road.
Pad LW -19 -07 has been moved 800' north with a net increase in 500' of new road as the site will
now be accessed from the road used to access LW- 19 -06.
Pad LW- 19 -08, B, C is moved 800' north with 800' more road.
Pad LW -19 -09 remains unchanged with a switch to a directional borehole rather than a vertical
borehole to reach the panel subsidence zone.
Please see the map 2.04 -M1, Sheet 6 of 6 for the new configuration of Panel 19 boreholes.
Modification to Longwall Panel 17,18 and 19 GVB Program — USFS Surface
• Page 3
ota
Drainage and Sediment Control
0.5 acres
2,550 feet (0.94ac.)
Total additional drill pad disturbance is 0.5 acres and temporary road disturbance is 0.94 acres
for a total of 1.44 acres of additional temporary disturbance. A modified Table 2.05.4 -T1,
Surface Disturbance Summary on PAP page 2.05 -50a is attached herein.
Each borehole will be drilled 12 1 /4 inch diameter to approximately 20 feet above the coal. 9 5/8
inch steel casing is cemented into the hole to approximately within 100' of the coal. 7 inch
slotted steel casing will be installed to within 10 feet above the coal. Approximately 60 - 100
feet of the slotted 7 inch pipe will be extended up or overlap into the 9 5/8 inch casing.
The drainage and sediment control system for these Elk Creek mine gob vent boreholes will be
consistent with the previously constructed Elk Creek Mine and Sanborn Creek Mine gob vent
boreholes. The drainage and sediment control for the Elk Creek Mine borehole sites will be
managed as a small area exemption with alternative sediment control provided by a combination
of perimeter sediment control berms /ditches and installation of straw bales, straw waddles, local
brush pile material, etc. and small sediment traps to reduce flow velocity and trap sediment.
Permit Map 2.05 -M4 (4 sheet) Drainage and Sediment Control Plan provides a typical example
of a drill pad lay out.
