The site geotechnical investigations are required to provide foundation and
soils information for evaluation and design of support structures for the proposed overland conveyor. It
should be noted that two separate Minor Revision applications are being submitted for the planned
geotechnical investigations, one for the TC Permit, and one for the PSCM Permit, each addressing the
portion of the proposed conveyor that falls within their respective permit areas.
As a result of conceptual design evaluations, a 25 -foot wide conveyor corridor has been defined,
extending from the PSCM portal area to the TC coal handling facilities. As proposed, the overland
conveyor, and a light -use construction and maintenance service road would fall within this corridor. Site
geotechnical investigations for the proposed overland conveyor will involve completion of 35 to 40
shallow (10 -30 foot deep) geotechnical test holes along the length of the corridor. An all- terrain drill rig
will be used to complete 4 -inch hollow -stem auger sample holes to characterize foundation materials,
assess depth to bedrock and groundwater conditions, and to collect material samples for lab testing. All
auger -holes will be backfilled with cuttings and leveled, on completion of drilling and sampling.
This submittal includes revised PAP text, exhibits; and maps, addressing the location, nature,
configuration, and associated reclamation of areas affected by the proposed geotechnical
investigations. New and revised PAP materials are identified by the attached Insertion
Instructions.
