Box 591 <br />5174 Highway 133 <br />Somerset, CO 81434 <br />(970) 929-2200 <br />Fax (970) 929 -5050 <br />Re: Mountain Coal Company, LLC, West Elk Mine; Permit No. C- 1980 -007; Minor <br />Revision No. MR -377, Pipelines to New Oil -Water Separator <br />Dear Mr. Kaldenbach: <br />RECEIVED <br />JUN 272011 6114 <br />Division of Meciamatio <br />Mining and Safety <br />Mountain Coal Company, LLC (MCC) submits this letter and application form for Minor <br />Revision No. MR -377 to install 6" diameter HDPE pipelines from the Maintenance Shop and <br />Surface Shop locations to a new oil -water separator to be installed southwest of sediment <br />pond MB -3. As shown on the attached drawing, a pipeline will be buried (a minimum of 36" <br />deep) under the Maintenance Shop floor for 10' to the west, then about 160' north under the <br />middle mine access /haul road and then 50' west into a collection vault consisting of a 36" <br />diameter, 48" deep concrete manhole with a removable steel cover. Another buried pipeline <br />will extend east 155' from the existing sand trap east of the surface shop and under the <br />access /haul road and then 180' further east, also tying into the concrete vault. From the vault, <br />another pipeline will be buried about 40' to the north and under the CPP feed conveyor <br />corridor and then will be secured on the ground surface for about 185' down the slope to the <br />stack tubes light use road. The pipeline will then be buried for about 40' under that road and <br />then laid and secured on the ground surface alongside the existing stormwater drainage pipe <br />for about 225' to the silo pad below. The pipe will then be buried approximately 170' to a <br />prefabricated fiberglass, 4,000 gallon oil -water separator to be buried in the bank south of the <br />concrete sediment trap located southwest of pond MB -3. <br />Please contact me at (970) 929 -2238 or by e-mail should you have questions regarding this <br />submittal. <br />Sincerely, <br />Kathleen G.
