Annual Report
Currier Gravel Pit
M -1980 -203
June 29, 2011
Mesa County, Colorado
Permitted acreage is less than 10 acres.
No crushing or mining occurred during the report year.
Reclamation activity has been performed on approximately 4 acres of land so far.
No crushing or mining activity for the next report year.
Pit has bottomed out (further mining uneconomic).
This gravel pit is on intermittent status. Historically, gravel demand for this remote
location comes from Forest Service or Mesa County governments. However oil and gas
companies now need gravel for their well pads and access roads to their drill sites. The
last crushing occurred in September 2008 in anticipation of this demand. In November of
2008 nearly all oil and gas activity ceased in this area. There is a stockpile of gravel at
the site.
Operator does not believe there will be more than 180 days of activity in the coming
report year. Future activity would only be trucking off stockpiled gravel. There was no
activity in the past year. Acreage is correctly depicted on the previously submitted map.
Legal description on that map is in dispute with the BLM. Weed spraying did occur
during the report year. Pit location markers are located annually. There is no exposed
groundwater at the pit. Further reclamation will proceed as soon as the remaining
stockpile of gravel is sold and removed whenever demand returns.
