•
ame0
Earth & Environmental
B) Best Management Practices
Best Management Practices are being observed throughout the Phase 5 VLF Project. Storm water
controls were maintained throughout the week. Precipitation was not substantial throughout the
week. Storm water controls are being observed in the East Cresson Clay Borrow.
V) VLF Geosynthetics
Geomembrane installation within the Phase 5 VLF continued throughout the week, performing
deployment, seaming, and repair /QC activities. Geomembrane installation was performed between
stations B0 +00 ( + / -) and B10+00 ( + / -), approximately 0 to 800 feet right of centerline (see Figure 4).
Approximately 165,332 square feet of 100mil LLDPE (single sided textured and smooth) and 49,400
square feet of 80mil LLDPE single sided textured was deployed using a John Deere 200 excavator and
a John Deere 544 front -end loader with spreader -bar attachments. Subgrade was inspected and
approved by AMEC and Lonestar representatives prior to geomembrane deployment (see Figure 4).
Approximately 8,776 linear feet of seam was fusion welded during deployment using two fusion
welding machines. Twenty destructive test samples were marked during seaming. Approximately 359
linear feet of seam was extrusion welded using one extrusion welding machine. One destructive test
sample was marked during extrusion seaming. All destructive sample test results met project
specifications. Non - destructive testing was performed for all fusion welded seams. Repairs were
performed using the extrusion welding method for all marked defects. Vacuum testing was performed
for all extrusion welded repairs and seams.
III Geomembrane acceptance was not performed during the week (see Figure 5).
Two loads of 80mil LLDPE single sided textured geomembrane were delivered to site during the week
for a total of 22 rolls. All loads were delivered on flat bed trucks in good condition. The rolls were
unloaded using a CAT 966 front -end loader with forks attached. The geomembrane was placed on
three pieces of 4" HDPE pipe, staked two rolls high. An AMEC field representative was present at all
times during unloading of the geomembrane. The AMEC representative also inventoried the
geomembrane, as it was unloaded.
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor.
AMEC observed structural fill placement within the Phase 5 VLF fill area. Ambient temperatures were
monitored during fill placement.
AMEC observed, performed necessary testing, obtained moisture samples, and assisted in the moisture
conditioning of SLF material within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC inspected and approved subgrade for geomembrane deployment within the Phase 5 VLF.
• AMEC observed, logged data, and assisted in the installation of geomembrane within the Phase 5 VLF.
VLF Weekly Report WE 05.29.10.D
