A few minor issues must be addressed
before the revision can be approved.
1. What methods and criteria will be used to determine the effectiveness of the "grout curtain ". Please provide
in -depth detail as to what type of monitoring and testing will be conducted in the "grout integrity test holes ".
2. In the event that the "grout curtain" is subject to thermal fracturing and the possibility of fractures caused
naturally over time by natural forces, what methods of testing and monitoring will be employed to detect
fracturing that may degrade the effectiveness of the "grout curtain" during and after any future thermal
testing?
3. Please specify at what depth below EF1 and EF3 the proposed "grout curtain" will be constructed.
Please respond to the issues listed no later than July 1, 2011 so the decision date of July 6, 2011 can be met. If a
response or an extension to the decision date is not received by July 1, 2011 the technical revision may be denied.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Grand
Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone no.
