Kerr (Marr) Mine - 2010 Annual Hydrology Report
All field data and sample collection for the water year was conducted under the direction of James
Mossman for Kerr. All sample analyses were performed by ACZ Laboratories, Inc. of Steamboat
Springs, Colorado. Discharge permit COG 850036 for the Loadout site (surface water) requires a
monitoring frequency of two (2) days per month.
Field and laboratory data are included in Appendices A through D. Locations of the monitoring stations
and wells pertaining to the Loadout site are shown on Map 2, Loadout Area Monitoring Stations. Given
that water monitoring at the Kerr mine site area has been terminated (TR -23), Map 1, Mine Area
Monitoring Stations is not included with this 2010 AHR.
4.0 LOADOUT AREA ALLUVIAL GROUNDWATER
Two alluvial wells (AP -1 and AP -2) were monitored for field measurements in October 2009 and then on
a monthly basis from March 2010 through September 2010 in accordance with the permit (the Water
Year is October thru September). Both wells remained frozen prior to March, 2010. Field data
collected are presented in Appendix A, 2010 Field Data. Detail field data is listed from Oct, 2000 to Oct
2010 in the table "Monitor Wells — Loadout Site" (Wells AP -1 & AP -2) located in Appendix A. Water
levels have returned to historic levels in both wells following a low water (drought) year in 2002.
Water quality samples were collected and analyzed on a quarterly basis during the Water Year. (Oct
thru the following Sept). Samples were collected October 2009 and in May and July, 2010. First quarter
periods are mid - winter and monitor wells are frozen. As of January 1999, the parameter list for alluvial
well sample analysis was reduced to include only major elements and no trace metals. The individual
laboratory analyses are presented in Appendix C.
The mean field and laboratory historical measurements are presented in Tables 1 and 2, AP -1 and AP-
2 Historic Loadout Area Alluvial Water Quality Data. These general water quality indicators remained
consistent (with historic values) during this monitoring period for both wells. Some fluctuation is
indicated in the Carbonate (as CaCO3) data years 2008 & 2009 but levels appear to be returning to
those of earlier sample years. Reason for the fluctuation is undetermined at this time.
2
