DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866 -3567
FAX: (303) 832 -8106
June 20, 2011
Peter Kearl
United Companies / Old Castle SW
P.O. Box 3609
Grand Junction, Colorado 81502
Re: Rozman Pit, Permit No. M- 1981 -014, Technical Revision Request, TR -06, Approval
Dear Mr. Kearl,
The Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety has finished the review of United's request for a technical revision,
TR -06, to the Rozman Pit permit. The revision makes changes to the mining and reclamation plans, and permit
area configuration. Staff received new maps and the inspection addressed the other issues noted in the May 4,
2011 adequacy letter. The Division did not receive any comments or appeals to the decision to release 146.8 acres
of Tract 1 as approved by the Division under acreage reduction request AR -02. Therefore the documented lands
are officially released and TR -06 is hereby approved as well. The Technical Revision changes:
Sincerely,
Mined Land Reclamation
1. Reconfigures the proposed disturbance area.
2. Changes the mining direction.
3. Notes the existence of the current batch plant and scale house.
4. Reconfigures the reclamation area.
5. Adds in a pond.
6. Changes the seed mixture.
The financial warranty was not revised and updated at this time due to a pending Technical Revision for the
relocation of the batch plant and support facilities to the 3 acres closer to Highway 135. When that Revision is
submitted construction details and a new access point will be addressed which will give staff better information to
more accurately revise the reclamation liability.
If you need additional information please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety, Grand
Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, or by telephone no. 970.241.1117.
G.
