prevent material damage, as well as the plan to rehabilitate the pipeline in the event of damage. Following <br />completion of undermining, and prior to final burial of the pipeline, an inspection and any necessary repairs to the <br />pipeline segment will be conducted. In the event repairs are required, an Amoco contractor will perform the work <br />under Amoco guidance, and EC will reimburse Amoco for the cost of the repairs. <br />County Road 107. It is anticipated that subsidence effects may necessitate minor repairs to County Road 107. A <br />general lowering of the ground surface with slight grade changes and minor cracking may occur along the gravel road. <br />State Highway 13. State Highway 13 traverses the planned life-of--mine underground mining operations. Refer to the <br />Life-of-Mine Plan Map (Map 22). However, the planned five- (5) year (1998 -2003) mine places State Highway 13 <br />outside the area of possible surface subsidence. Development mains and submains will be driven under State <br />Highway 13 during the planned 5-yeaz permit term (see Map 24). However, sufficient pillars will be left in place so <br />as not to allow subsidence. Standard approved methods, which stability analysis and past experience show are <br />adequate to prevent subsidence will be used. No longwall mining or pillar extraction will be done in this area during <br />the 5-year permit term. The worst possible consequence of life-of-mine subsidence on State Highway 13 would be a <br />slight lowering of the grade and the development of surface cracking in the pavement. <br />Railroad. The railroad (Colowyo and EC railroad spur) bed is located in the alluvial valleys of both the Yampa and <br />Williams Fork Rivers. The railroad bed is located outside the area of projected surface subsidence impact resulting <br />from the planned mining in the No. 5 and No. 6 Mines. Development mains and submains will be driven under the <br />railroad spur during the planned 5-year permit term (1993 - 1998) (see Map 24). However, sufficient pillars will be <br />left in place so as not to allow subsidence. Standard approved methods which stability analysis and past experience <br />show are adequate to prevent subsidence will be used. No longwall mining or pillar extraction will be done in this <br />area during the 5-year permit term. <br />Irrigation Ditches. The imgation ditches aze located on the alluvial valley floor and outside the area of projected <br />surface subsidence impact resulting from the planned mining (1993 - 1998) of the No. 5 and No. 6 Mines. Therefore, <br />mining-induced subsidence will not affect the irrigation ditches. <br />RENEWABLE RESOURCE LANDS <br />Alluvial Valley Floor. The river valley bottoms of both the Yampa and Williams Fork Rivers are classified as alluvial <br />valley floors (AVF). However, the Yampa River AVF and the Williams Fork River AVF lies outside the area of <br />possible surface subsidence during the next five (5)-year (1998 - 2003) mining plan. Development mains and <br />submains will be driven under the Williams Fork River AVF during the planned 5-year permit term (see Map 24). <br />However, sufficient pillars will be left in place so as not to allow subsidence. Standard approved methods, which <br />stability analysis and past experience show are adequate to prevent subsidence will be used. No longwall mining or <br />pillar extraction will be done in this area during the 5-year permit term. <br />Yampa River. No mining is planned under or near the Yampa River during the first (5) five years of planned mining <br />of the No. 5 and No. 6 Mines. In addition, all mining will be conducted so that the Yampa River is outside the area of <br />influence of surface subsidence effects. <br />Williams Fork River. All mining will be conducted so that the Williams Fork River is outside the area of influence of <br />surface subsidence effects. Development mains will be driven under the Williams Fork River during the planned five <br />year (1998 - 2003) permit term (see Map 24). However, sufficient pillars will be left in place so as not to allow <br />subsidence. Standard approved methods which stability analysis and past experience show are adequate to prevent <br />subsidence will be used. No longwall mining or pillar extraction will be done in this area during the 5-year permit <br />term. <br />Sandstone Aauifers.
