2.03.8 PERMIT TERM INFORMATION
The Eagle No. 5 Mine began operations in 1969. The Eagle No. 6 Mine started operation in 1987. These mines
•operated for a period of approximately 26 years, until the mine went into temporary cessation in 1995. The
anticipated life -of -mine for remaining coal reserves, if the mine were to resume operations, is estimated at 15 -25
years.
The Eagle No. 5 Mine portals have been sealed and reclaimed. The Eagle No. 6 Mine portals have been temporarily
sealed pending any future decision to resume operations. The Eagle No. 9 Mine is mined -out and the portals have
been sealed and reclaimed. The No. 9 Mine portal area has been utilized as a refuse disposal area, as addressed in a
prior application, and the permitted refuse area was reclaimed in 2008. The term of this permit application is for 5
years from the date of approval. It is anticipated that permit renewal applications will be filed in the future at five -year
intervals, consistent with the right of successive renewal, in order to maintain the permit, in anticipation of potential
future operations. For the horizontal and vertical extent of the underground mine workings, refer to the No. 5 Mine
Plan Map (Map 23), for the Eagle No. 5 Mine, and the No. 6 Mine Plan Map (Map 24), for the Eagle No. 6 Mine.
2.03.9 PERSONAL INJURY AND PROPERTY DAMAGE INSURANCE
MCM is self - insured through its parent companies for an amount not less than $1,000,000 for bodily injury and
property damage, and for the same minimum for property damage.
