Elbert Mining Company
proposed mining operations in Lake County. Currently, this proponent does not have an
authorized Plan of Operations for Mining Activity on National Forest System (NFS) lands.
Mining should be limited to those lands outside the National Forest System boundary.
The access route stated as "a private road off County Road 10" is not clear on exact location. I
would like clarification on the access route.
1 understand that water will be used onsite. Exhibit maps enclosed in the proposal package are
not clear where this water is coming from and how it will be transmitted to the site. Please have
the proponent clarify water use and location of such use.
Finally, I do not approve of the seed mix because it contains grass species that are invasive and
would soon spread to NFS lands and compete with native plants. I can provide a recommended
seed mix for the site upon request. I would also like the proponent to commit to a post -
reclamation site monitoring plan for three to five years to prevent noxious or invasive weed
establishment.
Thanks again for this opportunity to comment on this project. Please contact myself or Megen
Kahele at (219) 486 -0749 if you wouldlike to discuss thisfurther.
Caring for the Land and Serving the People
e
Printed on Recycled Paper
gff
r
