Corey Heaps
CAM Colorado LLC
June 21, 2011
Page 17
to the area on the west side of Reed Wash for construction equipment and topsoil
salvage operations.
Rule 2.04. 10 Vegetation Information
25. Rule 2.04.10(2) requires that the proposed reference area location be delineated on the
Vegetation Map. The map legend specifies a green dashed line as the Greasewood
Reference Area boundary. This line is shown along the western boundary. However,
along the north end of the reference area, the apparent boundary is depicted by a black
"vegetation type boundary" line, and along the eastern and southern sides of the area, the
apparent boundary is depicted by a non dashed green line that continues along the western
edge of the Reed Wash riparian corridor to the southern boundary of the permit area and
beyond. Please revise the map to clearly mark the reference area boundaries, consistent
with the map legend symbol.
CAM Response: Map -03 has been revised to correctly show the Greasewood reference
area with a green dashed line, and the other green lines have been changed to black to
denote a `vegetation type boundary'.
Division Response: Response accepted.
25a. Map 3, Permit Area Vegetation Map -- The entire permit area is not included on the
map. The borrow pit area on the south side of the permit boundary and the haul road
have been cut off. Please submit a new map that includes the entire permit area
including the entire haul road.
26. Rule 2.04.10(3) requires a vegetation map to include sufficient adjacent areas to allow
evaluation of vegetation as important habitat for fish and wildlife. In Exhibit 5 "Vegetation
Information ", narrative indicates that the vegetation boundaries of all lands within one half
mile of the proposed permit area are shown on Map 4, "Adjacent Area Vegetation Map ".
However, this is not the case; Map 4 is a large scale (1" = 300') map, which includes very
limited areas to the north and west of the main body of the permit area. Please include a
map of an appropriate scale (perhaps 1:12000) that depicts the regional vegetation
communities within ' /z mile of the main body of the permit area (as referenced in Exhibit
5).
CAM Response: Revised Map -04 is attached showing vegetation boundaries within one
half mile of the permit area.
Division Response: Response accepted.
27. On page 2 and 3 of Exhibit 5, the procedure for ensuring random location coordinates for
each sample transect is described. Based on the approach described, our assumption is that
transects would be numbered in accordance with the sequence selected, and, if 30 transects
