PERMIT #: M-1976-051
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: DMC
INSPECTION DATE: May 11, 2011
Another well, which was installed by the Operator in 1991 in order to increase the water supply for the
landowner, is located just east of the home. The ground elevation at this location is approximately 6,729 feet
above sea level. The water level observed in this well during this inspection was approximately four feet
below the ground surface. According to the completion log for this well, the stratigraphy is as follows: one
foot of topsoil overlies eleven feet of clay, that overlies five feet of gravel, that overlies shale. This well is
twenty one feet deep. This well has never been utilized.
The ground surface elevation was taken, using a GPS unit, from the southwest corner of the pit floor. The
elevation at this point was approximately 6,696 feet above sea level.
It was evident during this inspection that the open pit was not intercepting groundwater, and that water in the
pit was from recent snowmelt and storm events.
No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Dustin Czapla at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501,
phone number (970) 243-6299.
Inspection Contact Address
Fred Duckels
Duckels Construction, Inc.
3500 Duckels Court
Steamboat Springs, CO 80487
Enclosure
Cc: Bruce Humphries, RPM, Inc.
