STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
June 10, 2011
Mr. Scott Cowman
Sage Creek Coal Company
29515 Routt County Road #27
Oak Creek, CO 80467
RE: Sage Creek Mine (Permit No. C-2009-087)
Minor Revision No. 03 (MR-03), Adequacy Review
Dear Mr. Cowman,
COLORADO
D IV IS I ON OF
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
John W. Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Division received Sage Creek Coal Company's (SCC) application for a minor revision (MR-03)
on June 3, 2011. The application was determined to be complete on June 10, 2011. The Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has completed its adequacy review of the proposed minor
revision. Please respond to the following comments or concerns as necessary:
1. The proposed Map 2.05.3 M1B Mine Facilities Map (North End) displays the revised
disturbance boundary in the area of Haul Road B. Map MIB also shows that Haulroad B has
shifted to the west in the area of the proposed disturbance boundary. This shift in the location
of Haul Road B is in conflict with the location delineated on the approved Map M1B in the
permit.
This Haul Road B location change also creates a conflict with the approved Map 2.05.3 M 1 A
Mine Facilities Map (South End), as the change in haul road location does not match up with
the haul road B location in Map MIA. The conflict between approved Map MIA and proposed
Map M 1 B also affects the disturbance boundary location. Please provide a discussion or a
revised map M1B to reflect the correct location of Haul Road B or M1A to reflect the new
location of Haul Road B and the new Disturbance Boundary.
2. Proposed Map 2.05.3 M 1 B identifies a drainage channel in the middle of Haul Road B. It
appears that this channel should be on either the east or west side of the Haul Road. The
approved Map 2.05.3 M 1 B delineates this channel on the west side of the Haul Road. Please
revise proposed Map 2.05.3 M1B to reflect the correct location of this drainage channel.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions at (303) 866-3567 ext 8134.
Sincerely,
raon?nmental Protection Specialist
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
