Chief Drainage Channel Reclamation Work Plan
Little Deadwood Gulch
3. Excavate the bottom and sides of the channel 24 inches below grade to
allow for the placement of filter fabric (12 ozsa/vd.) foundation material,
filter fabric and riprap as shown in the typical cross section;
4. Place riprap evenly to the lines and grades shown on the drawings and
staked in the field;
5. As necessary use manual labor to restore original stream channel
6. Grade excavated material in designated area (Estimated amount of rock to
be stored is 250-300 cubic yards.);
7. On the down gradient side of the graded material, install a silt fence;
8. Reclaim the stream channel, banks and adjacent disturbed areas using the
following guidelines. (Guidelines for vegetation, mulch, erosion control
matting, straw bale barrier, silt fences are attached for reference purposes;
9. Manually grade or use a small Bobcat or suitable alternative front end
loader/box grader to conform the disturbed area to conform to the existing
topographic contour
10. Place riprap in the stream channel such that the stream bottom is
adequately protected to prevent downstream erosion and sedimentation
impacts.
11. No topsoil is available on site-however where fines are available and
where seeds can take hold. Areas on the historical mine site using this
technique have been successful
12. Revegetate the area adjacent to the constructed channel using DRMS
approved seed mix (Refer to Appendix A-NRCS Seed Mix).
13. Place jute netting or mulch over seed;
14. Apply straw mulch and crimp the straw into the surface-where disturbed slopes
of are greater 2.5:1-erosion control mats will be installed;
15. Install rock dams/weir above the disturbed areas (See Appendix A-BMP
rock dams)
16. On the down gradient channel install riprap at the crest of the transition
from the riprap channel to the out slope rock fill.
17. When the area has been graded and revegetated, ensure appropriate
erosion and sedimentation control structures are in place such as jute
netting, silt fences, vegetative filters, straw bales, wattles, riprap etc.
18. Photo document reclamation-stream restoration activities; and
19. Prepare "as-built" drawings
Inspection and Maintenance
20. Inspect the reclaimed site on a monthly basis-Refer to Guidance
Documents for potential areas requiring inspection; and
21. Repair failed areas as needed (repairs will be summarized in Wildcat
Mining Corporation annual report)
References
Guidelines for Reclamation of Drainage Basins and Channels
Revised 6.6.2011
5
