ERICH RAUBERY.E. <br />rtree{v <br />Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety <br />The following responds to your letter Dated May 27, 2011, regarding the Wildcat Mining <br />Corporation (Company) 112(d)-1 Permit Application. For your convenience, I have restated the <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety's (DRMS or Division) adequacy issue, and then <br />provided the Company's response. <br />Adequacy Issue #1 <br />In the Division's third adequacy letter, under adequacy item number 17, the Division indicated <br />additional adequacy issues regarding the proposed plans for repair of the collapsed portal at the <br />May Day 1 would be forthcoming. Division staff member Tim Cazier has completed his review <br />of the proposed plans and has provided a review memorandum, which is attached to this <br />correspondence. Please address the adequacy issues identified by Mr. Cazier in the attached <br />review memorandum dated May 25, 2011, "May Day & Idaho Mine Complex - Portal Repair <br />Comments to April 18, 2011 Adequacy Responses, Permit No. M-1981-185/CN-Ol." <br />Response #1 <br />The Company's response to Mr. Cazier's May 25, 2011 Memorandum is presented at <br />Attachment A to this CN-01, Fourth Adequacy Response. Additional portal repair <br />comments identified by Mr. Cazier in his March 11, 2011 memorandum are addressed in <br />Attachment I (Collapsed Portal Corrective Action Plan, May Day No. 1) to the Company's <br />CN-01, Third Adequacy Response. <br />The slope above the Chief Portal will be stabilized using a steel/timber sets above the Chief <br />Portal Entry. Rock will be placed above the steel/timber sets to stabilize the slope above <br />the portal. In addition, and discussed in other sections, a 60-inch CMP pipe will be <br />installed in the portal as an entry for ventilation and to be used as a escape man way. The <br />pipe will extend into the portal to a length three feet beyond the loose colluvial material and <br />extend approximately five feet beyond the entry.
