The
photographs were taken by Harry Ranney of DRMS, and reviewed by Susan Burgmaier in the DRMS Denver
office on June 3, 2011. Weather conditions for the flight were clear. A few snow drifts remain on the upper areas,
and the area was still wet with snowmelt. Ponds 11 A,012, and 012A, Haul Road B,portions of the South Pit area
and the North pit were all photographed.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05❑[]Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,
4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7,4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water
Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage—Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;
Impoundments 4.05.6,4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Ponds 1 IA, 012, and 12A were all holding water, but any sign of discharge was not apparent.
There was a large sediment delta at the base of the gully(previously reported in the May 17,2011 inspection)that
appeared to be deposited in an area not approved for disturbance. This area will be further investigated during the
next on-the-ground inspection.
SLIDES and DAMAGE -Rule 4.12:
The Pond 012 slide had increased since the May 17, 2011 inspection;recent movement was observed on
the north side of the pond, along the original repair area. The Pond 013 slide did not appear to have moved since
the last inspection, but it did appear that water was still seeping through the slide material, as evidenced by
standing water at the toe of the slide. A recent slump had developed on the slope above(southeast side)Pond
12A. A crack, roughly 1000 feet long was observed running through the 2006-1 shrub area. The slide along Haul
Road B did not appear to have moved since the last inspection, but it also had standing water along the toe area.
OTHER(SPECIFY)
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 10
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 2 of 7
