Western Fuels-Colorado <br />New Horizon North Mine <br />Oeneralized Mining Sequence Flowsheet <br />I Step 1: Topsoil on highwall (unmined) side stripped and <br />windrowed by dozers <br />I Step 2: when mining highwall reaches topsoil windrows, dozers <br />push material to shovel which loads soil into haul trucks <br />Step 3: Haul trucks move topsoil to lay down areas on spoil side I <br />for spreading or windrow stockpiling. <br />Step 4: Free dig overburden (material that can be dug with the <br />shovel without blasting) extracted by shovel, loaded into haul <br />trucks and dumped on spoil dump side of pit. <br />Step 5: Overburden bench 2 drilled and cast-blasted to spoil <br />side of pit. <br />Step 6: Approx 60% of blasted material over coal is pushed by I <br />dozer into spoil side of pit. <br />Step 7: Remainder of blasted material over coal is removed by <br />Truck/Shovel fleet and dumped on spoil dump. <br />Step 8: Upper coal seam (approx 1.5' thick) ripped and stacked <br />by dozer, loaded by front-end loader into over-the-road 18 <br />wheel belly dump trucks and shipped to off-site power plant. <br />Step 9: Parting (approx 8 ft. thick) between upper and lower <br />coal seams drilled and blasted in place. <br />I Step 10: Parting removed by Truck-Shovel fleet and dumped on <br />spoil dump. <br />Step 11: Lower coal seam (approx 7.0 ft. thick) ripped and <br />stacked by dozer, loaded by front-end loader into over-the-road <br />18 wheel belly dump trucks and shipped to off-site power plant.
