to give corrected dates for the application and issuance of Permit No. C-008-81, and include
a reference to the detailed history provided in Section 2.04.3.
Response - The requested correction has been made.
3. The second paragraph describing the 1979 survey states, "Site 5MN1257 has almost totally
been destroyed by previous mining disturbance, with nearly all of the site being disturbed."
This statement is at odds with language contained within the study, which says the site "has
also been impacted by ground disturbance from road construction, ranching and farming
activities" and that a portion of the site "has received less disturbance than much of the
surrounding area." Please review the text provided in the application and revise as
appropriate to remove contradictory statements.
Response - The text has been revised to remove contradiction.
4. A copy of the 1979 survey (revised January 17, 1980) has been included with the
application, as has a copy of the 1984 study by High Plains Consultants. However, the two
reports have not been numbered as attachments, and are not referenced in the Table of
Contents. Please modify the Table of Contents to include references to the 1980 and 1984
reports as attachments.
Response - The two reports are included in Table of Contents of Section 2.04.4. These
reports are identified as Appendix 2.04.4-1 and Appendix 2.04.4-2 in the text of Section
2.04.4 and are included behind these tabs.
2.04.5 - General Description of Hydrology and Geology
1. In the second paragraph on page 4 of Section 2.04.5 there is an incomplete sentence or an
extra space that needs to be corrected.
Response - The error has been corrected
2. Under the discussion of Significance of Groundwater on pages 6 and 7 the information
presented is from 1970 and focuses on historic use. This seems somewhat outdated and should
be clarified with reference to present use. In Section 2.04.7 pages 11-13 there is a discussion
on present and potential use of groundwater, which seems more appropriate. Please add a brief
discussion to the significance of groundwater section that references the present and potential
use of groundwater and whether the historic consumptive use presented in Table 2.04.5-2 is
reflective of current conditions.
Response - Section 2. 04.5 has been revised to address these comments. A discussion of
recent consumptive use data is presented on page 9.
3. Please provide a Map 2.04.5(1) which addresses the requirements of 2.04.5(1).
Response -A new "Map 2.04.5-1 General Geology and Hydrology Map" has been provided
to address the requirements of 2.04.5(1).
Response to First Adequacy Review Page 12
