Both sites discharge into Grassy
Creek which is on Segment 13e of
the Yampa River basin. The
stream standard for total
recoverable iron (1.0 mg/1) was
exceeded at the SSLG5 site with a
value of 1.83 mg/I in April. This
site is upstream of any mine
discharges.
Six monitoring sites exist within
the Grassy Creek drainage: YSGF5,
SSG1, 003 outfall, SSG2, SSG3, and
YSG5. Sites YSGF5, YSG5, SSG2,
and SSG1 exceeded the total
recoverable iron standard (1.0
mg/1) however, no exceedances
were noted at NPDES outfall 003.
Site YSG5 exceeded the nitrite
standard (0.05 mg/I vs 0.06 mg/1)
and the chronic selenium standard
(4.6 ug/1) twice with values of 6.1
and 6.9 ug/1). High selenium
values were not observed at
NPDES outfalls. The sulfide
standard (0.002 mg/I un-ionized)
was exceeded at site 003 with a
value of 0.0023 mg/I in October.
10.
