Varna Companies, Inc.
Office of Special Projects
1431 East 16`h Street Greeley, Colorado 80631 Telephone (970) 353-8310 Fax(970)353-4047
JUNE 2011 ANNUAL REPORT - M1978-056 - DURHAM - PIT 117
Extraction continues in Area A within and along the basin bottom. Area C is
predominantly stockpiles. In 2007, wet plant operations were moved to the North end of
Area B to facilitate continued extraction activities, as indicated in the 2007 Annual
Report. Extraction is anticipated to remain predominantly within Area B, and within the
south end through the middle segment for 2011-12.
Grading has been concurrent with extraction, and the majority of Area A perimeter banks
have been soiled and seeded in the winter and spring of 2010. Vegetation is presently
emerging along the seeded areas. Until Extraction progresses further within Area B, no
significant grading, resoiling or revegetation efforts are anticipated for 2011-12.
Filling of Area D is continuing along the Southern boundary of Area D, while approved
flood abatement activities have been completed along the berm separating Area D along
the Southern boundary of the Cache La Poudre River. This location was previously
seeded and vegetation has emerged and survived into the present year.
1
