PERMIT #: M-1981-021
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: RCO
INSPECTION DATE: April 20, 2011
some of the grasses that the operator seeded there. The piles are mostly covered in the annual weed Kochia.
This is not presently a problem, but since the topsoil is being saved for reclamation and its quality will affect
the success of the reclamation, the operator should endeavor to reduce the amount of Kochia and increase
the amount of grasses. The operator must ensure that the topsoil does not become infested with Halogeton.
The stockpile area is on a slight rise, allowing the potential for soil erosion in several directions. This is another
reason for grass seeding on the topsoil. Evidence of straw bales placed below the toe of the stockpile was
observed, but it appeared that range animals had found the straw irresistible and destroyed the bales.
Replacement of the bales or substituting a silt fence there is advisable.
All activities performed should be reported to the Division annually, including closure or opening of portal or
vent shafts, building removal, debris clean-up, seeding or weed control, sediment and runoff control, mining,
etc.
All responses to this report should be directed to this inspector at the Division's Durango Field Office:
DRMS
691 CR 233, Room A-2
Durango, CO 81301
Tel: 970-247-5193
Inspection Contact Address
Christy Woodward
Denison Mines (USA) Corp.
1050 17th Street, Suite 950
Denver, CO 80265
CC: James Blair, BLM, Dolores
(Inspection photos are on the following page.)
