1. PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Loveland Ready Mix Bokelman/Walters pit site is located in Larimer County, Colorado
approximately 1/4 mile north of Larimer County Road 18, and approximately 3/4 miles west
of County Line Road (Larimer County Road 901). The site is owned and operated by
Loveland Ready Mix.
The slurry wall is composed of a mixed backfill consisting of selected soil and bentonite clay.
This backfill was designed to have a maximum permeability of 1x10-7 centimeters per second
(cm/sec) and functions as a low permeability liner.
The slurry wall is 7,360-ft long. The wall has a minimum width of 30-inches and extends
vertically from/or near ground surface through the fractured clay shale to the top of the massive
bedrock, with total depths reaching 26 to 42 ft, averaging 31 ft.
Lyman Henn, Inc. (Lyman Henn) was retained by WRS Compass to perform slurry wall design,
backfill mix design, construction monitoring, and quality assurance/quality control for the
project. The slurry wall was designed by Lyman Henn and the design is documented in the
September 28, 2007 Design Report.
The Contractor constructing the slurry wall was WRS Compass. Construction activities
included:
¦ Clearing and construction of the working platform.
¦ Excavation and backfilling of the slurry trench. The work activities began in December
2007 and were shutdown in January 2008 and started back up April 2008 and finished in
June 2008.
¦ Construction of a protective cap on top of slurry wall.
¦ Reclamation of the site consisting of grading disturbed areas.
Daily work activities are documented in Lyman Henn's and WRS Compass' Daily Field
Reports in Appendix A. Permeability test results are provided in Appendix B.
G:\PROJECfS\107021-000 Loveland Ready Mix Slurry Wall\R. Records and COnEspondence\R.11 Repons\As-Bui4 report stuff\As-built reportFnal.doc
