The post mining contours assume no quarrying will occur after all the stockpiled
stone is processed. The post mining contours will be revised as part of a permit revision
if a decision is made to quarry the Dakota sandstone after the stockpiled stone processing
is completed.
The soil will be roughed up by small tracked vehicles. Compacted material will be
ripped a minimum of 12" prior to placing topsoil. The seed will be broadcast by either a
hand held or equipment mounted seeder. The soil will be tested to determine what, if
any, soil amendments are required per the recommendations of the local NCRS office.
Clean straw will be used as mulch at the rate of one to one and a half tons per acre and
crimped using the small tracked equipment or a disc. Seeding will be done in the fall
prior to snowfall.
The proposed seed mix is:
PLS
Species Broadcast
Streambank wheatgrass 6.6
Western wheatgrass 6.4
Hard fescue 0.8
Arizona fescue 1
Canada bluegrass 0.2
Cicer milkvetch 2.6
Sand dropseed 0.05
White yarrow 0.05
Total 17.7
The proposed reclamation seed mix has been chosen to stabilize the slopes and to have a
low palatability so that wildlife is not attracted to the runway area where aircraft could
collide with them.
Revised 5110111
