Pineda <br />Director <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 818 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: Edna Strip Mine (Permit No. C-1980-001) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 6 (RN-6) <br />Dear Mr. Wolfe: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, <br />Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 20, 2011, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal <br />mining operations at the Edna Strip Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods <br />as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Chevron Mining, Inc. has applied for a permit renewal (RN6) for the Edna Mine. The mine is a reclaimed surface mine on land <br />located approximately 5 miles Northwest of Oak Creek, Colorado. The permittee has previously applied for final (Phase III) <br />bond release for the remaining portions of the mine. No additional mining is proposed for this permit term. The applicant is <br />only proposing maintaining the current reclamation. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />T5N, R85W, Portions of Sections 31, 32 <br />T5N, R86W, Portions of Section 36 <br />T4N, R86W, Portions of Sections 12, 13, 14, 23, 24, 25 <br />T4N, R85W, Portions of Sections 7, 8, 17, 18, 19, 29, 30 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Oak Creek, Rattlesnake Butte, and <br />Cow Camp. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Routt County Clerk and Recorder, 136 6th Street, <br />Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, and at the Division office.
