Pineda <br />Director <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 20, 2011, an application to renew an <br />existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the Edna Strip Mine was considered complete for the <br />purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act <br />and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Chevron Mining, Inc. has applied for a permit renewal (RN6) for the Edna Mine. The mine is a reclaimed surface <br />mine on land located approximately 5 miles Northwest of Oak Creek, Colorado. The permittee has previously <br />applied for frtal (Phase III) bond release for the remaining portions of the mine. No additional mining is proposed <br />for this permit term. The applicant is only proposing maintaining the current reclamation. The permit area is <br />further described as follows: <br />T5N, R85W, Portions of Sections 31, 32 <br />T5N, R86W, Portions of Section 36 <br />T4N, R86W, Portions of Sections 12, 13, 14, 23, 24, 25 <br />T4N, R85W, Portions of Sections 7, 8, 17, 18, 19, 29, 30 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Oak Creek, Rattlesnake <br />Butte, and Cow Camp. <br />In accordance with the May 1991 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between our agencies, we must have <br />your concurrence in order to approve this proposal. We are required to make a finding that "the proposed <br />operations will not adversely affect any publicly owned park or place listed on or those places eligible for listing, <br />as deteirained by the SIIPO, on the National Regisier of Histoiic Places, unless approved jointly by the Board and <br />the Federal, State, or local agency with jurisdiction over the park or place." Therefore, we request that you submit <br />comments regarding your concurrence with, concerns with, or objections to this proposal.
