As an alternative,
the waste rock in the streambed can be removed, mixed with fly ash, cement and kiln dust, then
stockpiled on the west side of the stream. The addition of the amendments should neutralize and
cement the waste rock, making it resistant to leaching and erosion. If cementation is chosen, a new
armored stream channel should be constructed east of the stockpiled waste.
Red Jacket Mine (Site #19)
Location
This site is located approximately 200 yards below the confluence of Robinson Gulch and Virginia
Canyon (Figures 3 and 24). The mine waste pile was sampled as site #19. Site #19 is located at
LAT. N390 45'28.8", LONG. W1050 31'47.3". The estimated volume of mine waste is 700 cubic
yards.
Historic Structures
There are no historic structures or artifacts at this site.
49
Figure 24.
