Mr. Graff
Page 1 2
May 20, 2011
4. Under the terms of TR03, the Operator stated that groundwater depths would be maintained
within one to two feet of the baseline levels. The Operator committed to increasing
recharge rates if the measured groundwater depths were outside that range for any area. It is
the Division's understanding that the Operator measures groundwater levels on a weekly
basis. Please clarify the conditions which must be met before recharge rates are increased.
Would recharge rates be increased if the monthly average groundwater depth for a
monitoring well is greater than one to two feet below the lower baseline level?
5. The groundwater monitoring plan approved under TR03 specified that piezometers would be
monitored on a monthly basis after benchmark levels were established. The Operator is
currently measuring groundwater levels on a weekly basis. Please indicate if the Operator
will continue to monitor on a weekly basis and if so, commit to submitting the weekly
monitoring data with your Annual Report.
This concludes the Division's preliminary adequacy review of this application. Please remember
that the decision date for this application is June 17, 2011. As previously mentioned, if you are
unable to provide satisfactory responses to any inadequacies prior to this date, it will be your
responsibility to request an extension of time to allow for continued review of this
application. If there are still unresolved issues when the decision date arrives and no extension
has been requested, the application will be denied.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (303)866-3567 x8116.
Sincerely,
Michael A. C?gham
Environmental Protection Specialist
CC: Tony Waldron, DRMS
