The petroleum distillate is a naturally occurring product found in produced shale oil, as is the heating/fuel oil. Additionally, AMSO is requesting the access to the one-half (1/2) inch female iron pipe fitting for the attachment of a pressure gauge to be placed nearby the wellhead, rather than at the wellhead, as stipulated in the permit. The new location will be prior to any process activities and will provide valid readings of pressures. The EPA has reviewed these requests and agrees that these requests do not alter the basic operational processes of the facility and do not pose any additional risks to underground sources of drinking water. As of the date of this letter, EPA authorizes minor modifications of the permit as described in the attached document.
