That document emphasized a yield of a domestic household water
well is related to the estimated needs of a specific household and the ability of the well to deliver
the need over a 24 hour period. For example, a household of four individuals (assumes a two
bedroom house and therefore four individuals) requires the well to deliver 300 gallons of water
per day. (The standard used in the above referenced document is 75 gallons per day per
individual.)
The aquifer in question is a 3 foot thick gravel deposit, of low-yield. From the above cited
document, wells completed in low-yield aquifers are considered satisfactory if they are able to
provide the needs of the specified household through pumping and storage over a 24 hour period.
For example:
Well Yield Rate Over 24
Hrs. Gallons Produced Over 24
Hour Period Time Needed to Meet the
Water Needs of a Two
Bedroom House, Four
Individuals 300 gallons)
4.0 Gallons per minute 5760 1.25 hrs
3.0 Gallons per minute 4200 1.7 hrs
2.0 Gallons per minute 2880 2.5 hrs
1.0 Gallons per minute 1440 5.0 hrs
Therefore, we suggest the well test be run for any of the above time periods at a pumping rate
analogous to the corresponding yield. We maintain meeting any of the above rates producing
300 gallons in any one 24 hour period is adequate to meet the needs of a four person household.
This should demonstrate Duckels Construction has minimized impacts to the hydrologic balance
as to water quantity, the test required by the Act and regulations, for DRMS permitting
requirements. If 300 gallons in a 24 hour period can be satisfied, then the use of the aquifer by
the Brown's has not been injured.
RPM lne., 7425 Winter 13eri,v Lm, Castle Rack, CO 80108 Phone: (303) 854-7499 FAX; 303) 660-3852 Email: hlhmT?phriea2'a?cr?mcxxta?et
