PERMIT #: M-1997-094
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: BMK
INSPECTION DATE: February 16, 2011
OBSERVATIONS
1) The Inspection was conducted as part of the 4 year monitoring and inspection program designated by
the Mined Land Reclamation Division. Present during the inspection was Mr. Brad Muller, representing
the operator. The permit sign was properly posted at the access to the property. When the site was
last inspected in 2005, no problem was noted.
2) The site was active at the time of the inspection. Sandstone slabs were being removed with front end
loaders, and were being piled into pallets. The site is adjacent to two other permits. The Robinson Brick
Company Clay mine (M-1977-326) and the Silome Stone Bedrock Mine No. 1(M-1997-086). The permit
area for the mine includes the entire pre- law disturbance at the site: to the road way: to the clay
stockpiles along the Robinson mine permit boundary. The entire permit and affected area was walked
and inspected. All the drainage from the affected area is captured within the pit. Mr. Muller pointed a
portion of the permit area that is reclaimed and might be ready for a release from the permit. The
reclaimed acres appeared vegetated and stable. The current permit area for the site is 6.3 acres.
He was informed, if the operator wants the reclaimed acres to be released from the current permit, a
partial acreage release request, in accordance with Rule 4.17 of the Construction Materials Rules and
Regulations can be submitted. Additional acres to the site can be added as an amendment revision to
the permit. He was also informed, a new surveyed maps of the areas to be released and the additional
acres to be added to the permit through the amendment application would be required. If the site is to
remain a 110 permit, the total permitted acres cannot exceed 9.9 acres.
3) All the activities at the site appear to fall within the guidelines of the approved permit. The current
financial warranty in the amount of $8,300.00 appears to be adequate to cover the current affected
acres.
