PERMIT #: M-1985-040 <br />INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: JLE <br />INSPECTION DATE: April 25, 2011 <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />This was a joint monitoring inspection with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Colorado Division <br />of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS) of the Seifert Pit; DRMS File No. M-1985-040 operated by Seifert <br />Construction. This site is located approximately 11 miles southeast of Westcliffe, Colorado in Custer County. <br />Jared Ebert with the DRMS and Stephanie Carter of the BLM conducted the inspection. Mr. Keith Baker and <br />Joni Johnson of Seifert Construction accompanied us on the inspection. <br />This is a 17.34 acre 112c mining operation for sand and gravel. The mine entrance sign was in place at the <br />entrance to the pit, and the affected land boundary was marked with metal posts. The site is located on top of <br />a terrace above a water channel. The excavation consists of a small 4 acre bowl shaped pit excavation that <br />daylights to the south. Topsoil has been stripped and is located in stockpiles adjacent to the excavation. The <br />site and stockpiles appear stable. <br />Page 2 of 4
