SEDB.WK1
SEDIMENT POND B CAPACITY
Sediment pond B is constructed in the north central portion
of the permit area. Sediment ponds B contains the run -off
from the central portion of the permit area. Based on the
following calculations, sediment pond C is not required
since sediment pond B can contain the run -off from the
entire drainage area. Sediment pond B is constructed
in Section 33 Creek. Sediment pond B is sized to handle the
run -off from both drainage areas B & C. The emergency
spillway for pond B is sized to handle the calculated peak
peak flow from drainage areas B & C.
RUN -OFF VOLUME - - POND B
is
TOTAL REQUIRED WATER VOLUME
SEDIMENT VOLUME
USING THE UNIVERSAL SOIL LOSS EQUATION
A= R K L S C P
R = rainfall factor
K = soul erodibility factor
LS = combined length slope factor 3.0% - 2000'
H = 260 L = 8750 S = 260/8750 = 3.0%
C = cropping management factor
P = erosion control practice factor
A = sediment,tons /acre /year
ONE AND ONE -HALF YEAR SEDIMENT VOLUME - ACRE FEET
357.0 Acres 115 # /Cubic Feet
•
TOTAL REQUIRED SEDIMENT POND CAPACITY -- AF
RUN -OFF
VOLUME AF
7.59
0.46
8.05
30.00
0.21
0.71
1.00
0.50
2.24
0.48
8.52
Sediment pond B was constructed during April 1992. One May 5, 1992
Pond B was certified as having a capacity of 8.62 A -F, (8.07 water
and 0.55 sediment). The above sizing calculation indicates that
Pond B requires a water volume of 8.05 A -F and a sediment volume of
0.48 A -F. Therefore Sediment Pond B is sized adequately to handle
the run -off from drainage areas B & C.
9 -6
October 1992
PRECIP
DIRECT
ACRES
CURVE
AMOUNT
RUN -OFF
208.1
83
1.6
0.44
148.9
64
1.6
0.037
357.0
Drainage
Areas B &
C
is
TOTAL REQUIRED WATER VOLUME
SEDIMENT VOLUME
USING THE UNIVERSAL SOIL LOSS EQUATION
A= R K L S C P
R = rainfall factor
K = soul erodibility factor
LS = combined length slope factor 3.0% - 2000'
H = 260 L = 8750 S = 260/8750 = 3.0%
C = cropping management factor
P = erosion control practice factor
A = sediment,tons /acre /year
ONE AND ONE -HALF YEAR SEDIMENT VOLUME - ACRE FEET
357.0 Acres 115 # /Cubic Feet
•
TOTAL REQUIRED SEDIMENT POND CAPACITY -- AF
RUN -OFF
VOLUME AF
7.59
0.46
8.05
30.00
0.21
0.71
1.00
0.50
2.24
0.48
8.52
Sediment pond B was constructed during April 1992.
