• VIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN !
t
The pH of the soils sampled during June 1992 ranged
from 7.1 to 8.6 all within an acceptable range. The electrical
conductivity of the soils which ranged from 0.36 to 1.49 are all in
the low range and indicate little salinity damage may be expected.
The sodium adsorption ratios which range from 4.08 to 16.66 are
medium, with the one sample showing in the high range. This sample
is from the C horizon of soil unit 1.
2.04.9(b)
The boron levels in the soils sampled during June
1992 ranged from 0.50 to 3.34 ppm all less than the upper
acceptable limit of 5.0 ppm. The selenium levels in the soils
sampled during June 1992 ranged from <0.02 to 0.05 ppm all less
than the upper acceptable limit of 0.10 ppm.
(c) A Soil Classification Map is enclosed as Drawing No.
112. The applicant intends to salvage the A and B horizon from
each soil unit within the disturbed area of Mining Area No. 1 and
2. The C horizon, where present in Mining Area No. 1 and No. 2,
will be salvaged only after confirmation that the SAR value for the
horizon is 15 or less.
(d) The information presented in Exhibit 7 and discussed
above indicates that the C horizon in soil map unit 1, Mining Area
® 3 is unsuitable plant growth media because of high sodium
adsorption ratio. The C horizon from soil map unit 1 in Mining
Area No. 3 will not be salvaged.
(e) A discussion of present and potential productivity
of soils is included above in the soil map unit descriptions.
2.04 -27
October 1992
